A woman became internet (in)famous earlier this week after a video of her attempt to stop a car with her backside while talking on the phone, and then afterward getting into a heated argument with the driver, went viral.

It’s been posted on the YouTube and Facebook pages of SG Road Vigilante and has been viewed thousands of times, with many netizens mocking the woman or making unkind assumptions about her.

This caused the woman to speak out, saying the video does not show the complete story.

The incident occurred at about 11:35 am on Tuesday (Aug 9) Lorong 35 Geylang.

The video shows a woman in a long grey dress standing in front of a black Mercedes Benz while speaking on her phone.

As the car inches forward, she turns her back to it, but the driver continues to slowly drive.

The woman is then pushed aside, and even when she attempts to stop the car, it drives off.

The clip then cuts an earlier portion showing the woman arguing with the driver of the car, a man dressed in black pants and a light blue shirt.

They proceed to shout and gesticulate at each other, getting into each other’s faces. At one point, the man pushes the woman back with his shoulder.

He also can be heard yelling, “This is Singapore, this is not China,” at her.

A few onlookers observing the fight can be seen as well.

As the woman goes to speak to another woman, the man goes back into the car and begins to drive away.

Then the woman tries to block his escape, but to no avail.

While many netizens were shocked at the man’s behavior, which put the woman at risk, a number of commenters on SG Road Vigilante posts were unkind to the woman, calling her crazy and even alleging that she was a prostitute who had not been paid.

She was also compared to another woman who tore off the license plate of a vehicle in a road rage incident at Tuas Link last month.

The Vietnamese woman in the latest incident broke her silence and spoke to Shin Min Daily News.

Identifying herself as Lisa, 40, she said, she was the victim in the incident and that the video fails to tell the complete story.

“People make assumptions without knowing the real situation which makes me very sad. I must come forward to clarify the truth.”

She had just brought her daughter to volunteer at a temple and was waiting by the side of the road for her husband when the incident occurred.

Lisa had been on the phone when the black car ran over her foot.

Afterward, the driver asked her why she had not moved to let him pass, even as she tried to reason with him.

“He pushed me and kept provoking me to hit him,” Lisa added.

She also told Shin Min Daily News that she has filed a police report about the incident.
