Burger joint owner calls out family of 3 for returning half-eaten burgers and requesting well-done patties as replacement

Nothing But Cheeseburgers (NBCB) Singapore owner Tommy Wong recently posted a video urging customers to refrain from “unfair” behaviour towards food and beverage (F&B) establishments after a family returned their half-eaten burgers requesting new ones.

“Basically, every time a customer comes over, my guys are taught to let customers know that our cheeseburgers are cooked to medium, medium-rare,” explained Mr Wong in the video, adding they ensure that the patty’s internal temperature was always safe to eat.

One glance at pages such as COMPLAINT Singapore on Facebook will tell you that more and more people are dissatisfied with the food they’re being served—either prices have gone up or quantity and quality have gone down, or maybe all three.

Some recent entries have expressed shock at fries that cost $8, shrinking burger patties, or “Economic noodles selling at non economic price”—5.90—with ingredients the poster described as “barely see(n).”

S Iswaran: Higher demand for taxis & private-hire cars but fewer drivers caused fare surge & booking difficulties, netizens draw attention to drivers’ hardships

 

The surges in fares, as well as booking difficulties for taxis and private-hire vehicles, are due to fewer drivers and a larger demand for rides, said Transport Minister S Iswaran in Parliament on Aug 1.

The number of active taxi and private-hire car drivers decreased by 18 per cent to about 57,000 drivers from January 2020 to June 2022, he said in a written reply to Mr Saktiandi Supaat (PAP-Bishan-Toa Payoh), who had asked if the Transport Ministry had conducted a study on the recent issue of taxi and PHVs higher fares and booking difficulties.
