A new joint venture has been formed in Singapore to help support and coach Southeast Asia-based founders who lead post-Series A companies.

Called SEA Found.ers, the project is the result of a merger between three organisations: SEA Founders Group, a curated community for established Series A+ tech founders in Southeast Asia; Founders’ Coaching Pause Group (or the FCP Group), a bi-annual workshop for founders and ecosystem leaders; and community and co-working space Found., which also runs early-stage fund Found.Ventures.

The FCP was established in 2015 to provide experienced coaching and a robust community to entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia. The programme was initially run as a joint venture between Monk’s Hill Ventures, Awaken Group, and Entrepreneurs Institute.

The SEA Founders Group was launched in October 2017 and has been led by Tomas Laboutka (former CEO of HotelQuickly), with support from the FCP Group.

Found., which was rebranded from Impact Hub Singapore, has supported more than 2,500 members and alumni, who have collectively raised over US$400 million.

Besides running co-working spaces, it has helped over 75 organisations such as DBS, NTUC, P&G and JP Morgan in their innovation agendas. Found.’s current services for its entrepreneurs include a range of coaching, mentoring, and partnership programme.

The Found.team, led by CEO Grace Sai, will manage the new venture. The organisation’s board of directors will include Monk’s Hill Ventures’ Founder Peng T. Ong, Laboutka, So-Young Kang and Roger J. Hamilton.

“We observed a leadership gap in companies post-Series A in the region. Through the combined forces of the SEA.Founders platform, we focus on the quality of founders in creating high-performance teams and welcome them into our innovation campuses and programs”, said Sai, in a press statement.

“Found. has established itself as the premiere community for entrepreneurs of all backgrounds and locations,” added Laboutka. “We share the same mission of building a thriving business ecosystem in Southeast Asia, and look forward to working closely together to realizing this shared goal.”
