Song Hye Kyo’s ‘malicious comment’ lawsuit forwarded to prosecution

South Korean actress Song Hye Kyo’s ‘malicious comment’ lawsuit has been forwarded to prosecution.

The Bundang Police Station stated two netizens were forwarded to prosecution for defamation of character and malicious comments on 15 October.

Both of them have been charged for indictment in violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.

One of the netizens has been charged with defamation of character for writing a blog post this past June alleging that the reason for Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki’s divorce was the actress’ secret “sponsor” in China.

The other netizen has been charged for writing personal attacks against the actress.

In July, her agency announced a lawsuit had been filed against 15 netizens, but 13 had deactivated their accounts, making them unidentifiable.

Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo announced their divorce in June, with Hye Kyo’s statement citing a “difference in personality” as the reason for the split.

Joong Ki and Hye Kyo finalised their divorce on July 22 with no division of property or financial settlement.

The couple first met on the set of Descendants of the Sun where they fell in love and shortly after that got married.

When the couple first got divorced, Song Joong Ki went on to live with his family while Song Hye Kyo moved into a luxury residence.

Advertisers dropped sponsorships for Song Joong Ki but for Song Hye Kyo, she was doing promotional appearances abroad and was seen in many public events.

The pair do not have any children even after 20 months of marriage.

Song Joong Ki’s latest project is “Arthdal Chronicles Part 3.”

Song Joong Ki is no longer a favourite for advertisers since his divorce from A-list actress Song Hye Kyo.

He is now paying the price with Korean media noting that there has been a significant drop in demand for him to endorse products or services.
