The director behind Alita: Battle Angel Robert Rodriquez is currently working on a superhero sci-fi fantasy project with Netflix titled We Can Be Heroes.

He is not just directing the original film but will also write and produce it.

The film will star a bunch of well-known names including Priyanka Chopra, Christian Slater, Boyd Holbrook, Sung Kang and Pedro Pascal.

Per Deadline, the film will follow:

The children of Earth’s superheroes after their parents have been kidnapped by alien invaders. The children must team up and learn to work together if they want to save their parents and the world.

This is right up Robert Rodriquez’s alley who spent a large part of his career directing films of this genre – he’s the man behind the Spy Kids franchise too. Rodriquez also did Sin City and From Dusk Till Dawn.

Alita did well at the global box office, making a cool USD 404 million and generating a passionate following.

Even though the film may have gotten mediocre to poor reviews from critics, the general audiences seem to dig it. Just compare the film’s critic score versus audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The cast of We Can Be Heroes is promising. Priyanka Chopra has a natural charm to her despite recent controversy.

Although she hasn’t actually starred in many good films in Hollywood, her work on TV series Quantico has receive praises from critics.

Not to mention, she’s actually been in some highly entertaining Indian films.

Sung Kang, who played Han in the Fast & Furious franchise is always a delight to watch and Pedro Pascal (who’s excellent in Narcos) certainly adds a layer of intrigue to the film.

There are no details on when We Can Be Heroes will be dropping on Netflix, but Deadline’s report notes that the film is currently in production.
