To gear up for the rising tide of Artifical Intelligence (AI) innovations sweeping across all industries, the Singapore government has launched two initiatives to strengthen the public’s knowledge of the technology.
The initiatives are the result of a partnership between the state-run AI programme AI Singapore (AISG) and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), under the skills development and job placement hub TechSkills Accelerator (TeSA).
AI for Everyone (AI4E)
The first initiative, called AI for Everyone (AI4E), will help 10,000 people in Singapore, ranging from secondary school students to working adults, to discover how AI can improve their everyday lives and impact society.
Through that, participants will gain an understanding of how AI products and services work. Intel and Microsoft will come on board as content providers in this new programme.
The programme is free for all 10,000 participants. AISG will also work with schools, polytechnics and Institutes of Technical Education (ITE) to conduct similar workshops at their premises.
AI for Industry (AI4I)
The next initiative will be tailored towards “technically inclined industry professionals”. Called AI for Industry (AI4I), this programme aims to help 2,000 of such individuals adopt AI skills to become more efficient workers and through that, boost their productivity and competitiveness.
It will be presented as a three-month online-offline hybrid programme. The objective is to help participants learn how to develop basic AI and data applications using Python.

“Learning Data Science by doing is key to helping upskill engineers, developers and other IT professionals in Singapore,” said Jonathan Cornelissen, CEO and founder of DataCamp.
