Pritam Singh updates: Another $700K paid to lawyers for AHTC trial

Workers’ Party leader Pritam Singh shared an update on his, Low Thia Khiang’s and Sylvia Lim’s blog ‘In Good Faith’, about a deduction their lawyers made, in order to fund the work they did for the trial up to October 30. He wrote that their “Lawyers deducted a sum of $700,109.90”.

Mr Pritam also shared the blog post on his Facebook page, where he said that the money was deducted “from the balance deposit placed with them, to pay their bill number 20180868 issued on 5 Nov”.

Along with the post was a confirmatory letter attached.

Mr Singh also wrote, “The balance deposit prior to this deduction was $804,192.69. With this deduction, the balance deposit with our lawyers stands at $104,082.79, which will remain with them for payment of further bills for work done”.

On Wednesday, October 24, the three opposition party leaders revealed in their blog that they “depleted [their] personal resources,” having already paid $600,000 from their own pockets to their legal team. As such, they appealed to Singaporeans and members of the public to assist since they added that they had not used any party funds.

Netizens who commented on his post urged the trio to go for another round of crowdfunding should they need more money.
