jurong town hall bus interchange opens on 26 november 2023

SINGAPORE: Western Singapore’s commuting experience is set to become more accessible and efficient as the Land Authority Transport (LTA) announces Jurong Town Hall Bus Interchange (JTHBI) opens on Sunday, 26 Nov.

Located on Venture Drive, JTHBI will work with Jurong East MRT station and Jurong East Bus Interchange, providing additional bus capacity to accommodate future regional developments. Managed by Tower Transit Singapore, JTHBI introduces several commuter-friendly features and improved connectivity to nearby transport nodes.

The interchange’s amenities extend to wheelchair-accessible toilets and changing rooms, a baby care room, and a commuter care room. These spaces are equipped with touchless sensor-operated auto-sliding doors. The baby care and wheelchair-accessible changing rooms feature audio cues to signal the opening and closing of doors. Additionally, JTHBI provides facilities for staff, including dedicated staff toilets, a cleaner’s room, and a staff lounge.

Enhanced Connectivity

JTHBI improves connectivity by linking to Jurong East MRT station and Jurong East Bus Interchange through covered linkways and a pedestrian overhead bridge equipped with lifts. This development ensures commuters can access all three transportation hubs via fully-sheltered routes, enhancing their travel experience.

New Bus Service and Route Adjustments

A new bus service named Service 870 will serve residents in Tengah new town, connecting them to vital amenities in Jurong East Town Centre. Service 870 will traverse Jurong East Central, Bukit Batok West Avenues 3 and 6, making commuting more convenient for residents.

Service 78, currently operating with first boarding and last alighting points along Jurong Gateway Road, will extend its route to operate out of JTHBI. Simultaneously, Service 160 will be adjusted to travel along Jurong Gateway Road and Venture Drive, terminating at JTHBI, eliminating stops at Jurong East Bus Interchange. These route adjustments, combined with the introduction of Service 870, will be effective on Nov 26, 2023.

Information regarding these changes will be available at relevant bus stops, bus interchanges, and on the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) website. Commuters may also seek assistance from staff employed by the respective bus operators.

LTA requests commuters’ understanding during the transition period as the operators adapt to the new bus interchange’s operations. LTA and the bus operators assure commuters that they will closely monitor the situation and make any necessary adjustments to ensure a seamless and comfortable journey for all.
