Tips to Successfully Find Mr. Right in Today’s Digital Age

Let’s face it, dating and dating apps are tiring. If you have been tempted to give up completely on your quest to find Mr Right, you’re definitely not alone. According to studies on Hinge, 61% of the app’s users are simply tired and burned out when it comes to dating.

The global pandemic didn’t help either, making people feel like finding someone right for them is just such an overwhelming feat. This isn’t something abnormal.

“It happens all the time,” said Susan Trombetti, dating expert, matchmaker and CEO of Exclusive Matchmaking.

How does one deal with dating fatigue? Take a step back from the apps and consider a dating app detox. Remember it is quality over quantity so date smarter, not more.

Behavioural scientist and author of relationship blog, You’re Just A Dumbass, Clarissa Silva says to treat dating like you are collecting data on what you want and don’t want.

“Focus just on characteristics, qualities and life desires”. This means knowing what your deal breakers are and don’t waste time.

If you’re experiencing burnout;

Take a step back from dating

Focus on who you are and what you want. Slow down and invest in your mental health. Being sure of who you are and what you want improves your chances of success.

Date at your own pace, when and if you feel like it. Don’t let things like your biological clock ticking make you go crazy, same goes for men though they may have it easier in terms of not having a biological clock, dating shouldn’t be a tick box thing for having a partner. There is no timeline for love and companionship.

Set a strong intention

“The best way to avoid dating burnout and feel more satisfied with your matches is to go after what you want. Be more intentional about who you’d like to go out with and send like to the people who interest you,” said Director of Relationship Science at Hinge, Logan Ury.

“Once you’re ready to date again, be patient and keep in mind that some of the best connections come from a slow burn rather than ‘the spark’.

If you’re on an app, don’t wait for likes

Take charge. Date people you ‘like’ and not just people who ‘like’ you. Send more likes and go after what you want.

Don’t wait too long to respond

Again if you’re on an app, don’t wait too long to respond to a match. Sending messages soon helps eliminate useless banter and small talk. Great conversations are everything and that’s what you want to aim for. So make a comment instead of just a like or an emoji.
