Singapore — A fight erupted on a train ride as one man attacked an elderly male allegedly due to the loud volume on the older man’s headphones.

In a video posted on the Facebook and Instagram pages of @sgfollowsall on Sunday (Nov 28), a man in a purple shirt, who is standing up, can be seen hitting an older man in an orange mask, who is seated, but can be seen kicking at the other man.

The incident is said to have occurred during a stop at Ang Mo Kio.

Other passengers can be seen moving away as the fight gets more heated.

Fortunately, the altercation between the two men lasts only a few seconds, and other passengers intervene, including some women who endeavour to get the man in purple to calm down and to not argue with the elderly man.

However, the man in the purple shirt remains visibly irate and mutters profanities, and even moves his mask down to continue to address the older man.

Toward the end of the video, the older man is seen gathering his belongings and moving to the other side of the MRT, upon the suggestion of some fellow commuters, as the other passengers keep talking to the man in purple.

“So basically a man just attack an old uncle not happy because the dudes music on his earpiece damn loud,” wrote the netizen who submitted the video to @sgfollowsall.

The older man scolded the man in purple when he told him about the loud volume, the man in purple said.

Some netizens suggested that the older man may be hard of hearing, which is why the volume on his headphones was so loud.

Others pointed out that this problem is not only found on trains.

This is not the first time in the past months that commuters have had to evade fighting passengers on trains.

In September, the violence in a fight that broke out on the MRT sent other passengers scurrying as two men brawled, knocking each other to the ground and onto the seats.

The fight was uploaded on the Kuanyewism Facebook page on Sept 25, where it has since gone viral, having been viewed over 68,000 times.

At the beginning of the thirty-four-second video, two men—one who looks considerably older than the other— can be seen arguing.

One man is heard shouting vulgarities at the other.

At that point, there are other passengers beside them in the train cabin, mostly women.

The fight then escalates, and the men start hitting each other, with one of them falling to the ground.

The women can then be seen getting up and walking away quickly, walking toward the camera of the person who took the video while in the background it can clearly be seen that the men, one in a grey shirt and the other in a red one, continue wrestling and hitting each other. /TISG
