Chicken price going up but chicken slice in chicken rice going down — Netizens lament chicken shrinkage, even comes with just bones & skins

Here are some posts from the popular COMPLAINT Singapore Facebook group that appear to indicate that less chicken is being served in the dishes that they order.

One woman showed her order of clay pot rice, which had fewer chicken pieces than what was advertised.

Another netizen was so disappointed in his meal that he was moved to make his “first complaint on social media.”

“Ordered 2 pax chicken rice for $10.70!!

We were stunned to see the no of pcs of chickens almost all came with bones and skins only.  So disappointing,” he wrote.

However, it seems that it’s not only servings of chicken that are shrinking, as netizens have also written in about noodles, fries and other dishes, including pizza, while others have complained about high prices.

One poster shared that the 10-inch pizza they ordered was only 8.6 inches.

By now, everyone is most likely feeling the effects of inflation, especially when it comes to an essential that’s really close to our hearts (or stomachs)—rising food prices.

For Singaporeans used to the best and most affordable street food in the world, this has been a big problem.

Hawkers have to earn their living and can’t raise prices too much. Several, it seems, may have resorted to serving fewer amounts of the ingredients that cost more today than they did a few months ago, including chicken. /TISG
