It is now a trend in Malaysia. Supporters of ex-PM Najib Razak have started a fund to provide him financial support.

The supporters started the fund after they learned that Najib could not put down the RM1 million bail.

Najib has paid RM500,000 but is unable to pay the full amount of his bail, risking jail.

Former Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Rafii said: “We want to give moral and financial support to Najib.

“Najib can only pay RM500,000 and to fund the balance, he has to surrender his house title deed as security.

“Therefore, we want to offer our moral and financial support to him”.

Razlan is the spokesperson for the group of supporters, who call themselves “Solidariti Bersama Datuk Najib”, said Malaysiakini.

The “Free Najib” fund has collected RM11,000 since its launch on Thursday (July 5) afternoon.

The group launched the fund at the Langgak Duta residence of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Razlan Muhammad Rafii said the fundraiser was launched, as the bank accounts belonging to Najib and his family were all frozen and any cash in the house has also been seized.

“It is difficult for him to pay the RM1 million bail set by the court by next Monday, so Umno members and ordinary citizens wish to donate to him so that he is not burdened heavily. It is also a show of moral and financial support for him,” said Razlan.

Warning to MACC and Amar Singh

The group has also warned the police and the anti-corruption agency the MACC from referring to the 1MDB case against Najib.

It said there is a temporary gag order granted by the Kuala Lumpur High Court following MACC’s move to charge Najib for abuse of power and criminal breach of trust yesterday.

Razlan Rafii thus warned Bukit Aman Commercial Crimes Investigation Department chief Amar Singh and the MACC to stop talking about the 1MDB.
The aim is to prevent a trial by the media, it is believed.
The pro-Najib supporters believe there has been an excess of false news and accusations without proof against their leader.
