Singapore listed as part of Malaysia by US State Department

The transcript of United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s remarks at a press briefing has listed Singapore as part of Malaysia.

The slip-up, much to the amusement of Singaporeans, was shared by Twitter user Chun Han Wong.

In his tweet, he said, “U.S. State Department transcript of Pompeo’s Monday briefing lists Singapore as a part of Malaysia. The hosts of the just-concluded #TrumpKimSummit might have something to say about that…”

His Tweet received 199 retweets and almost 250 likes.

Hilarity ensued with netizens replying to his tweet.

The word ‘Malaysia’ has since been removed from the transcript.

Malaysians, or rather those who commented on Malaysian media The Star Online, seemed to find the incident amusing and handled it with humour.
