Media personality and opposition politician Fahmi Rias relates in his Facebook and incident where he helped a 20-something-year-old woman by exorcising a Jin (evil spirit) from her.
He said he was called by the Malay family in distress. “When I arrived the daughter was sitting on the floor outside the house. She welcomed me in Tamil.,” he said.
“When she was brought in, the Jin that possessed her told me that he was from Ceylon and that he had fallen for her while on a visit to Singapore,” he added.
When Fahmi asked why this young lady in particular, the Jin said “because she is always in the state of junub (impurity).”
“Her family confirmed that she was lacking in her prayer observation,” said Fahmi. He also said that when a particular section from the Quran was recited, “the Jin through her also recited but stopped at the last verse.”
After the woman had washed herself and performed her prayers, the Jin left her body said Fahmi. But not before embarrassing him by telling everyone present that he performs his personal religious obligations late at times.
“So it was also a reminder for me,” said Fahmi.
Fahmi warns not to take major impurity lightly. He said transgressions open up their weaknesses and makes it difficult for them to perform the Muslim prayers, and in turn opens them up to possession by evil spirits.
