A joint media release from Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said that a Malaysian motorcyclist was arrested yesterday (Dec 21) after about 900g of heroin was found hidden in his underwear.

The 23-year-old suspect was stopped for inspection at about 6.10am at the arrival motorcycle zone of Tuas Checkpoint when ICA officers suspected that there could be drugs hidden in his underwear. The joint report did not say if ICA was tipped-off.

CNB officers who were alerted by ICA, searched the man and found the heroin in his underwear. The illegal drugs are estimated to be worth more than $63,000. The motorcyclist could face the death penalty if the amount of diamorphine (pure heroin) found on him is determined to be more than 15g.
