The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has apologised for the incident involving one of itsĀ enforcement officers and a member of public. On 2 June at about 3.25pm,Ā Facebook user Laoer Tian shared the video of an LTA Officer engaged in a heated argument with the driver of the vehicle SJF1609M. The LTA officer can be heard threatening that he will hitĀ the driver of the car. LTA said that the incident happenedĀ at Yio Chu Kang MRT taxi stand on 23 June.

During the argument, the LTA officerĀ pulled open the door of the car on the driverā€™s side in anger, when he wasĀ cautioned against harming the driver by the video taker.

The person who took the video, a woman, can be heard saying, ā€œheyā€¦heyā€¦heyā€¦heyā€¦you are working for the Government ahā€¦you donā€™t behave this way. okā€¦donā€™t behave this way.ā€

The LTA officer can be heard saying, ā€œyeah behave never mindā€¦ā€

The woman then told him, ā€œSo what, it doesnā€™t mean that you can open the door and threaten people.ā€

ā€œIf he want to hammer me, ask him come ah,ā€ the LTA officer replied.

The woman asked the officer to refrain from harming anyone and be patient as he is working for the Government.

The driver of the car drove away as the LTA officer was talking to the woman.

In it statement on the incident released in its Facebook, LTA said that it does not condone such unprofessional behaviour in itsĀ enforcement officers, and will investigate the incident.

LTA also said that it had reminded itsĀ enforcement officers and traffic wardens that they need to discharge their duties with care and professionalism.
