PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, gathering an army of witnesses, has decided to go ahead with a defamation lawsuit against Sarawak Report editor Claire Rewcastle-Brown in London last week.

Hadi, said PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan, filed by Hadi in his personal capacity at the High Court of Justice in London on April 21 against Rewcastle-Brown, who is also based there, Yahoo news reported.

It said The suit is over a Sarawak Report article last year claiming that PAS leaders received funds linked to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

Opposition MP Rafizi Ramli previously revealed the name of a former PAS leader whom he said received 1MDB money in his personal account.

Saeawak Report had broken the story of the 1MDB money that allegedly went missing and reportedly found its way in several accounts across the globe

Some of the cash also went to Prime Minister Najib Razak’s private banking account, said Sarawak Report.

Hadi is seeking an undisclosed amount in damages and an injunction preventing Rewcastle-Brown from repeating the allegations after Rewcastle-Brown failed to respond to Hadi’s request for an apology.
