In a Facebook post on Monday, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong visited Muhyiddin Yassin, Malaysian Minister for Home Affairs, and his family.

He said that during his visit, he said, “ we reminisced over what we did to promote Johor-Singapore relations when I was PM and he Menteri Besar of Johor”.

Had a good chat with my old friend, Muhyiddin Yassin, Malaysian Minister for Home Affairs, and his family. We reminisced…

ESM Goh also added that when Mr Muhyiddin was Menteri Besar of Johor, he “would go up to his residence, Saujana, for Hari Raya get-togethers (durians were the highlight) and he would come down to Istana for CNY dinners”.

To also emphasise upon the nature and closeness of their relationship, he continued, “His daughter showed me the black and white picture of us in her hand-phone when she was a little girl”.

Despite tense talks over water prices and the Kuala-Lumpur High Speed Rail (HSR), it is heartening to know that our Ministers are still able to maintain amicable relationships with their counterparts from Malaysia.
