Elderly taxi driver found dead in vehicle parked in Hougang

A 63-year-old Trans-Cab taxi driver was found dead in his vehicle, this morning around 8am at Block 675 Hougang Avenue 8. Trans-Cab has identified the deceased as Mr Tor Tiong Hee who has bee driving for the company since 9 Jul 2011.

Mr Tiong Hee was found lying motionless by emergency officers in the driver’s seat of his vehicle, with the door opened. According to Channel 8 news, the driver – who lived just a few blocks away, at Block 672 Hougang Avenue 8 – died while trying to exit the cab.

Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

Trans-Cab revealed in a statement to the press that it will provide assistance to the late driver’s family members and said, “We are very saddened with the passing of Mr Tor Tiong Hee. It is a great loss to us and we extend our condolences to his family.”

Trans-Cab added that it will assist the police in ongoing investigations if necessary.
