Domestic helper caught on camera hitting disabled elderly woman under her care

A domestic helper has been caught on camera hitting an elderly woman in a wheelchair who appears to be under her care. The incident reportedly occurred in Telok Blangah, as the helper was seated with the elderly lady underneath a sheltered walkway, beside a HDB block.

Facebook user Priscilla Teng-Ng shared the video online and revealed that her own helper took the video when she noticed what was happening under the block:

The video has already garnered nearly 70,000 views, over 1,500 shares and 1,000 reactions on Facebook since it was shared on social media earlier today.

As criticism that Priscilla’s helper should have confronted the allegedly abusive maid mounted, Priscilla clarified that her helper was with her young daughter and could not intervene as she was worried that their safety might be compromised if she confronted the other helper.

Priscilla added that less than an hour after the video was published online, the errant helper’s employer identified her and made a police report.

Meanwhile, both Singaporeans and foreign domestic helpers responding to the video online have expressed outrage at the way the helper treated the elderly woman:
