Domestic helper allegedly attempts suicide from 8th floor of Choa Chu Kang HDB block

A foreign domestic helper was seen standing precariously on the ledge of an eighth floor unit at Blk 557 in Choa Chu Kang, this past Saturday around 3.30pm.

According to an eyewitness, the helper crawled out of the unit’s kitchen window and stood on the tiny ledge before crouching to sit on the ledge, in what is believed to be an attempt to end her own life.

A video shared by an eyewitness, Facebook user Jessika Putry, shows Singapore Civil Defence Forces (SCDF) personnel deploying an inflatable air mattress to catch the helper in case she fell as the helper remains crouched on the ledge:

Thankfully, the helper was rescued by the police and SCDF staff.
