Another member of the opposition Democratic Action Party (DAP) publicly defends former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad while some Malays are attacking him physically and personally.
Starting with “Dear Malaysians!”, the letter to the locals written by Abdul Aziz Isa, – Special Assistant to YB Chong Chieng Jen and Petra Jaya DAP Socialist Youth Publicity Secretary, said: “And if you keep thinking about your own ego, well, you will suffer, not Tun M. He has done his part.”
The letter, at times full of wit and sometimes sarcastic, said: “I understand that some people are still unable to accept him. Love him, or hate him, he has admitted his mistakes in his own way. At least he broke his silence.
“He didn’t ask you to forgive him, he asked you to lead this country to the right direction. You can’t expect your 92 year-old grandpa to say sorry to you.”
Then it goes with a mild denunciation of Mahathir’s past.
“Yes, I may not agree with some policies implemented during his time. Giving BN for another 5 years means that you are the one who’s destroying this nation.
“Yes, you may have said that he created the monster, but the only way to destroy the monster is to let the creator do it.”
But it cast no aspersions when it says “If you blame Tun M for all of these miseries, why don’t you blame your parents or your family members who voted BN and Alliance since 1957?”
With strong points, it also chastised the Malaysians for not thinking for themselves.
If you can’t think for yourself, can you just please think of our next generation? He is running out of time in this world but you will probably be here for the next 5,10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 years and so on.
The writer asks whether the Malaysians would rather cast their vote for the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) instead of opposition contenders in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) just because of their ‘hatred’ towards Tun Mahathir?
“Would you rather suffer for the next 5 years under Najib just because of your personal hate towards Tun M? If it’s like that, why don’t you blame God for creating Adam and Eve for us? If it wasn’t because of Adam and Eve, we would not suffer like this, am I right?
On their parents, Abdul said if they didn’t vote for BN, Tun Mahathir and Prime Minister Najib Razak would have never become prime ministers.
“Nah, do you like that kind of answer? To those who disagree with this, you are just super-ego.,” he said.
