A video of a maggot-infested tray of eggs for sale at a Giant hypermarket in Tampines has been going viral online.

The video, which was been viewed over 100,000 times, shows a Giant brand tray of 30 eggs covered with wriggling maggots. Uploaded online yesterday by Facebook user Tang WS, the video shows that the eggs retail for $4.45 per tray.

Tang WS questioned whether Giant does any kind of quality control before putting items for display on store shelves and asked, tongue-in-cheek, whether the hypermarket is selling fresh eggs or fresh worms:

Saw this at Giant Hypermarket Tampines. Wonder if they QC their products before displaying them for sale. Fresh eggs or fresh worms?!!@GiantHypermarketSg

This is not the first time that shoppers have found eggs infested with worms in supermarkets. At least two shoppers experienced the same unsightly sight at a Giant supermarket and an NTUC Fairprice supermarket in less than a year:

Please be very careful while buying eggs from Giant Supermarket!Went there Saturday evening and found maggots crawling all over the stenched eggs.
