Redditers claim that mothership.sg, a prominent local website, has coped their content without a proper attribution. They said that this was not entirely unexpected of the website.

About 2 weeks ago, the Redditers discussed the ‘CIA Documents Dump: Singapore 1940s to 1980s’.

CIA just released 13 million declassified documents. I picked out some documents of interest in the 1940s-1980s (naturally some pages are redacted but it’s worth a shot).
-CIA monitoring prominent Chinese figures in 1949 (due to Communist connections) eg. Aw Boon Haw, Tan Kah Kee
CIA continued monitoring Chinese people of interest in 1950, including LKY and wife
Multiple notes on Singapore’s government in the 1950s due to Communist influence with detailed reports on post-war, pre-independence situation.
A CIA spy got caught because he accidentally blew out the lights in a hotel here in 1960
American concern of Soviet naval vessels docking at Sembawang in the 1970s when ASW destroyer Blestyashchiy visited Singapore in 1971. They did a report too of Soviet naval presence in Third World countries.
“Noted that our understanding it is GOS policy to discourage and restrict Soviet use of Singapore’s facilities”
CIA theorised a potential terrorist attack would happen on a radar installation on an offshore island, a ship of national shipping line or a Singapore airliner after the Laju Ferry Incident in 1974
CIA’s intelligence assessment of LKY in 1985
“Even in the best of circumstances, we believe Lee is unlikely to turn power over to the younger generation without retaining a watchdog role for himself. At Lee’s behest, for example, the cabinet is drafting a constitutional amendment to make now honorary presidency an elective position with enhanced powers – which Lee intends to reserve for himself after the 1988 elections.”
TL:DR it’s mostly communist/race riots/LKY/economical related with lil bit of smuggling. I’m a history buff so this is some pretty cool trivia. Sorry if the formatting is messed up, it’s my first post.”

Mothership reported on the CIA’s declassified files about 5 days ago.
