Singapore – For safety purposes, pedestrians are advised to stay within the sidewalk or cross-designated lanes to avoid accidents. One young man, however, disagreed with this advice when he refused to step aside for an oncoming vehicle and slammed the hood in anger as if it was his right of way.

On May 1 (Wednesday), a certain Norman Lee posted in Facebook a video that showed passengers waiting along Eu Tong Sen Street for a ride.

Lee wrote, “Post on behalf. *Updates 2/5/19 1320hrs – Grab Uncle still considering whether to report to police, part 2 footage may be used as evidence. Will ask him to update me again.”

The video, which has over 5,500 shares to date, began with the car travelling on Eu Tong Sen Street.

At the start of the footage, the taxi guided a man who was blocking his way back to safety with a honk. The man appeared to be trying to flag down the Comfort cab on the other lane. The eager passenger quickly stepped back to avoid unnecessary danger.

However, the next obstruction proved to be a bit more stubborn. The taxi was soon met by two young men who were standing further down the middle of the road. They did not even budge when the cab stopped right in front of them.

What happened next was somewhat surprising because one of the young men proceeded to slam the hood of the taxi three times in defiance while his companion shoved him aside trying to calm him down.

The video ends with the driver saying something vulgar under his breath.

According to Norman Lee who gave the following statement to The Independent Singapore, there was more action that happened after the footage.

“1st May 2019 @ 0340 hours, along EU TONG SEN st toward hill st. My friend was preparing to turn left to Clark Quay to do a pickup,” said Lee.

“As shown on the video, most people once saw a car approaching will take a step back. However, the two guys as shown in the video did not, thus was being flashed at,” he added. “Instead of moving back, the guy in specs came forward and started hitting my friend’s bonnet.”

Lee shared that his friend reversed the car and stepped out to check for any damage, but was approached by the man who pounded his hood and allegedly wanted to start a fight.

“My friend backed off and drove away,” said Lee. “My friend stopped shortly after (as seen in the second video below) due to red light. The specs guy came and open his passenger side door and continue instigating for a fight.”

“Once the light turned green, my friend quickly drove off,” noted Lee.
