Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding made it to the TIME 100 Next list, earning him a spot among other young movers and shakers such as co-star Awkwafina, singer Camila Cabello and basketball star Zion Williamson.

The inaugural list was launched yesterday and it expands upon the iconic TIME 100 list which was first introduced in 2004.

The list highlights 100 rising stars who are changing the future of business, sports, politics, entertainment, science, health and more.

Fellow Malaysian who also became success abroad, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh who is also his Last Christmas co-star had a note on the list together with the 32-year-old actor’s photo.

The note read that when Yeoh met Henry Golding, she was happy that Jon M.Chu, the director of Crazy Rich Asians found her the ‘perfect son’. She was proud of his push for Asian representation and was fortunate to know such an incredible man who’s never lost sight of where he came from.

Golding happily shared the news on his Instagram account for his fans and followers last night with the caption that he felt honoured being part of the list with truly special people. He also thanked ‘momma’ @michelleyeoh_official for the quote.

Golding’s latest movie Last Christmas that features Emilia Clarke and Michelle Yeoh is due to hit cinemas on Nov 14.

The Malaysian actor is of English and Iban ancestry and he was born in Sarawak, East Malaysia.

After working as a hairdresser in London for a few years, he moved to Kuala Lumpur to pursue a career as a TV host before making his big break in acting.

In other news, Golding revealed a funny story about how he was very excited to work with the Matthew McConaughey in the upcoming action thriller The Gentlemen, in an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

For Golding he thought that he was going to be best friends with McConaughey, going for Sunday walks in the park, dinners and that their wives will be good friends, and that they will enjoy yogurt on Saturdays, he shared with Jimmy Fallon.
However, McConaughey was cold towards him the first time they met.
Golding found out later that the Interstellar actor usually goes into character.
