A man who appears to be a contractor was seen sitting dangerously atop an air-conditioner installed outside the second top-most floor of a HDB block. A photo capturing the incident, which reportedly occurred yesterday at Block 304 Yishun Central, went viral after it began circulating online yesterday afternoon.
The photo alarmed several netizens, especially given the height between the contractor and the ground several floors down. Some netizens felt that HDB should re-design the ledge outside flat to accommodate service works, while others felt that the onus to ensure the safety of workers lied with the contractor company.
Still others blamed the homeowner for allowing the worker to perform service works in such a precarious position and asserted that the homeowner should have never allowed the worker to sit outside the flat at such a height without safety equipment:
