Maleficent actress Angelina Jolie is honouring her children for giving her a reason to go on after her divorce with Brad Pitt.

The pair who separated in 2016 have six children together. The 44-year-old actress shared that she relied on her children for support after revealing that she ‘lost herself’ during the split.

‘The last few years have not been the easiest. I have had my ups and downs. I haven’t felt very strong,’ she told The Sun.

Regarding the past few years, Angelina said: ‘We’ve all been a bit in lockdown. ‘We all have our difficult times. I didn’t work, the kids needed me at home… my strength is from my children.’

She continued: ‘Anyone who is a parent knows there is a strength within you that grows when you just have to survive anything to be strong enough for them and you have to pull them through anything.’

Returning to acting has allowed Angelina to see things clearly and positively again. She recently reprised her role as a Disney villain in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.

‘There’s something when you are not feeling very strong where you push yourself and I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to play these kind of characters that pull out every bit of strength and remind me that I can be strong,’ she said, adding: ‘I guess I am a little bit stronger.’

Angelina and Brad have struggled to finalise their divorce despite doing their separate ways more than three years ago. Early in October, they asked the court for more time to allow them to decide how to split their assets. Miraval, a French winery that the couple bought in 2011 with the intention of passing on to their six children is one major point of disagreement in the dispute. /TISG
