Alleged sexual predator caught near boat quay with help from passers-by

Facebook user Sophie Jannah Apsara recounted in her Facebook how with the help of a stranger, she and her friend caught an old man who might have insulted their modesty red-handed.
Sophie said that she sensed that something was amiss when she noticed the old man taking pictures of her and her friend, Ingelica Lee, in the middle of the day while walking to Boat Quay.
“When we stopped and just stared at him he quickly pretended that he got a call and hurriedly walked away from us,” Sophie said.
A woman who was behind them however, signaled to them that the man was taking pictures of them.
“As we approached, he started running for his life. (I have never seen an old man run that fast before) and we both gave chase,” Sophie recounted.
The women caught the man after a chase and with the help of a stranger, managed to restrain the man until the police arrived about an hour later.
“As i was calling the police, this sneaky pervert quickly started deleting photos from his hp (handphone),” said Sophie.
“Not only were there photos of us, there were photos of many girl’s butts and up-skirt shots as well!!! All obviously taken secretly,” she added.
As Sophie’s friend tried to grab the man’s phone before he could get rid of all evidence, he scratched and dug his nails into her arms and left pretty nasty scratches on her, Sophie alleged.
Sophie appealed to the public to be not apathetic when they see others in distress and needing help. She said that at least 20 people saw the women chasing the perpetrator but did nothing. Finally four individuals stepped-in to stop the old man and to surround him to prevent him from running.
Sophie thanked the strangers for helping her friend and her to catch the alleged sexual predator.
